Trivia Night was a hit!

The return of Trivia Night was a blast for everyone! We had a terrific time playing games and challenging ourselves on trivia. We are so happy to see our friends and colleagues after such a long hiatus, and so grateful for their support!

SPJ chapter president Elizabeth Donald served as emcee, which was her first try at running a trivia night, so she is very grateful for the patience of the crowd. The entire SPJ chapter board was on hand as volunteers, along with Faith Caruso, our student volunteer from St. Louis University; and designated “president’s spouse,” Jim Gillentine. We held a silent auction and used-book sale during the event, which also included games like “heads or tails” and the traditional newspaper table decorating contest.

St. Louis SPJ relies almost entirely on our fundraising to support our projects, including our Student Boot Camp, webinars and training, networking opportunities, the First Amendment Free* Food Festival and more. For the past two years, we have not been able to hold our in-person events. We are so happy to have had such a wonderful and generous crowd for our first fundraiser since the pandemic began! We are also grateful to the good folks at the Kirkwood Community Center, who generously allowed us to reschedule our event four or five times (we lost count) as we waited for the Voldevirus to calm down enough for us to hold this event safely.

Final numbers aren’t in yet, but we will be sure to share them as they are calculated. Thank you all for your generosity, your camaraderie and your good spirits!
